Here are some simple instructions to configure your PC to work with eLink Lite

1. Integration with MS Word for Document templates etc

Open Word > go to Tools > Macro > Security > on the Security Level tab the setting needs to be Low or Medium Security; on the Trusted Sources tab tick both the tick boxes at the bottom of the tab (some earlier versions of Word only have one tick box, please tick it).

2. Integration with MS Excel for report exports etc

Open Excel > go to Tools > Macro > Security > on the Security Level tab the setting needs to be Low or Medium Security; on the Trusted Sources tab tick both the tick boxes at the bottom of the tab (some earlier versions of Excel only have one tick box, please tick it).

3. Integration through MS Internet Explorer

Go to http://advantage.elinkuk.co.uk
Then, when the page has loaded, go to Tools > Internet Options On the Security tab > highlight Trusted Sites > click the Sites… button > untick the require server verification tick box > type http://advantage.elinkuk.co.uk/ in the add this website to the zone box and click Add > then click OK > then click the Custom Level… button > set all ActiveX options to Enable and set Enable for Cookies both Signed and Unsigned (if there is no option for this, please go to the privacy tab and select Websites and allow http://advantage.elinkuk.co.uk/). On the Advanced tab > clear the tickbox ‘Reuse windows for launching shortcuts’ (in earlier versions of Internet Explorer where this option is not available then tick the checkbox ‘Launch browser windows in a separate process’). Click the OK button.

You are now back to the http://advantage.elinkuk.co.uk/ website. Please click on your hyperlink down the left side. This brings you to the login page for your eLink Lite system. Please add this page as a favourite to your favourites list. Login to the system using your log-in and password.

4. Configuring your eLink - My Portal

You now have a box asking you to customise your activity portal. This is a dashboard of your key information. To begin with we recommend you have My Agenda, Latest Actions, Latest Contacts and Latest Companies. Choose My Agenda in the dropdown list and then click the Apply button underneath this. Then click the Add button, select Latest Actions and then click the Apply button underneath it. Then click the Add button and select Latest Contacts in the dropdown and then click the Apply button underneath it. Last one, click the Add button and select Latest Companies in the dropdown list and then click the Apply button underneath it. You now have 4 panels displayed on the left side of this grey box. You can drag each one into a different order if you wish. You can also click Add a column and then drag panels over to the right hand column. Now click the ok button.

5. Integration of eLink Command Centre

You now have the eLink My Portal on the screen. Please click on the Tools button (image of a spanner) > please ensure that Word, Excel and Outlook are closed on your computer > click the Options hyperlink at the bottom of the list > then click the Install Add-In Components hyperlink at the bottom of this page > this will download an installation program (taking between 30 seconds and a few minutes depending upon your internet connection speed) > please say yes to installing Midas.dll and to Add-In components > please select English when the installation routine starts > please accept the default settings on each page of the installation (except the page with three tick boxes, make sure eLink Commander and Outlook Add-In tick boxes are ticked) > run the installation > then click Finish > you are back to the Options screen > please close this using the X > please close the Tools screen using the X > you are back to the My Portal screen.

A butterfly icon has now appeared in your toolbar at the bottom right of your screen > please left click on the Butterfly and select login > enter your username and password and select your Alias (which will be remembered automatically in the future) > this should open the eLink My Portal. This butterfly (the eLink Command Centre) is another way to login to your eLink Lite system.

- Don’t be put off, doing this set-up does make the whole operation work faster
- use the Search box, it really is fast,
- use the Butterfly for Favourites, Show, and Recent, because it’s faster
- drag and drop existing files into your system
